Sharad Kumar Vats
Sharad adored competing for India in cricket as a youngster. He grew up in New Delhi where he was born. He was a competitive outdoor athlete who excelled in any activity he tried. He shifted his concentration to studying hotel management in order to further his professional career while his contemporaries concentrated on preparing for engineering and medical entrance exams. After earning his degree, he was selected by the Taj Group of Hotels, the biggest hotel company in Asia (a TATA Group Enterprise). After being elected Employee of the Year, he got various awards at the start of his first year of employment with the Taj Group.
Soon after, he met Mr. Divya Bhanu Sinh Chavda, his “Super Boss,” a renowned wildlife expert and author of numerous books on Indian wildlife. Her encounters and conversations with him during the subsequent years inspired Sharad to travel to many national parks.
Between 1990 and 1999, Sharad traversed all of India, travelling through the Bandhavgarh, Corbett, Dudhwa, Kanha, Bharatpur, and Sariska jungles. He saw his first tiger in 1990 when he was just 22 years old, but he had no idea that this one experience would lead him into a world where the forests were the only thing that mattered. Even though he continued to work, Sharad aligned himself with the objective of living in India’s jungle and protecting the Tiger in the business world.
With a renewed feeling of purpose, he quit the hotels and started his own company, Nature Safari India Pvt Ltd, with the slogan “Conservation via Tourism.” As he travelled further, he developed and enhanced his skills as a wildlife photographer. The encounter between a tiger and two elephants that he captured on camera in 2014 was an amazing natural history moment. His tenacity and commitment in this endeavour have made him famous on a global basis.
“Autobiography of a Yogi,” “Bhagwat Gita,” “Jobs,” and “Built to Last” are some of his all-time favourites. He enjoys reading a lot. People like Paramahansa Yogananda, Mahatma Gandhi, Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, and Jack Welch had a significant impact on him.
