The Kanha National Park or the Kanha Tiger Reserve, which is situated in Madhya Pradesh’s picturesque Maikal Range, has long been a popular destination for those who love environment and wildlife safaris. The 326 square mile area of stunning natural scenery fills up a significant chunk of the Mandala and Kalaghat districts.
The peculiarity of this location is characterised by its chilly winters, year-round water supply, and cool morning and evening temperatures in the height of summer. Kanha National Park is a magnificent 772 square miles (2000 square kilometres) of dense Sal Forest located in Madhya Pradesh, in the eastern region of India. This stunning scenery inspired Nobel Prize Laureate, Sir Rudyard Kipling to write the Jungle Book.
Kanha National Park is an evergreen forest with a tonne of undergrowth that provides ambush, parking itself around the Banjar and Halon rivers and providing the Tiger with the ideal habitat. Herbivores can find food in the undulating grasslands and meandering streams, and predators will always pursue prey that has food. In terms of wildlife tourism, this national park is one of the best managed forests. The Hard Ground Barasingha’s reintroduction was one of these successes. These Barasinghas, also known as the “Jewel of Kanha,” were housed in special enclosures to promote reproduction and prevent extinction.

Kanha National Parkconducts two types of jeep safaris. A full-day tiger safari and a half-day tiger safari.
In Kanha, a half-day jeep tiger safari in Kanha can be further divided into an early-morning tiger safari and a late-night tiger safari. Depending on when the sun rises, morning tiger safaris begin about 6:00 am and last for 4.5 to 5 hours. The visitor returns to the lodge or resort following the morning tiger safari. You can get ready, eat a brief lunch, and then relax a little before returning to the jungle for your nighttime tiger safari. Depending on when the sun sets, the duration of the nighttime tiger safari is between three and five hours. You return to the lodge for dinner after your evening tiger safari and spend the rest of the evening at your leisure.
During a full day safari, your jeep or vehicle enters the park 15–20 minutes before every other safari vehicle. You spend the entire day in the national park, including lunch outside in the untamed forest. After the twilight tiger safari, 15 minutes have passed before you return to the park. The best times to go on this kind of tiger safari are in the lovely months of October and November or even at the tail end of February and March. Professional photographers who are tracking a certain species or documentarians who want to capture a specific family in the national park frequently go on a full-day tiger safari in Kanha Tiger Reserve.
