This southern Indian tropical wet deciduous forest covers 758 sq km and is mixed with tropical dry deciduous teak. A multitude of streams and “nallahs,” the most of which are seasonal, crisscross the area. Despite the Pench River drying up towards the end of April, there are several water puddles in this area known as “dohs,” which serve as watering places for various wild animals.
During the water shortage, the Pench Reservoir in the park’s middle is the sole significant water source. In 2002, an upsurge in wildlife tourism helped this park gain notoriety. Rudyard Kipling, however, discovered the park long before tourism took off, and he immortalised it in his well-known “Jungle Book” as a memoir.
In Pench Tiger Reserve, it’s typical to witness a healthy population of Cheetal, Sambar, and Nilgai grazing the open spaces along the sides of highways and along the banks of rivers and reservoirs. Wild dog packs of up to 15 can be found close to the Reserve’s Chhedia, Jamtara, Bodanala, and Pyorthadi sections. In the summer, gaur herds are frequently seen by streams and bamboo groves. Sloth beer prefer mahul bel-infested forests and high, rocky outcrops. The Chinkara inhabits open spaces around the villages of Turia, Telia, and Dudhgaon in extremely tiny numbers.

Royal Bengal Tiger
The Indian nation’s animal represents his magnificence. Many naturalists regard the Royal Bengal Tiger as one of the most formidable apex predators. At Pench National Park, you can see this large cat in action.
Sloth Bear
The solitary sloth bear lives in South Asian jungles and is shaggy, dirty, and untidy. It walks alone, typically at night, in pursuit of insects and fresh fruit, grunting and snorting loudly.
Sambar Deer
There are various subspecies of sambar deer, and they differ in size and appearance. The elusive sambar deer are most active at twilight and at night. They are a crucial part of the ecosystem because they are preyed upon by the Indian Leopard, etc.
Indian Leopard
Compared to the other subspecies, it has larger rosettes and a coat that is paler in desert settings, greyer in cooler climates, and more ochre in rainforest habitats.
Pench National Parkconducts two types of jeep safaris. A full day safari and a half day safari.
In Pench, a half-day jeep tiger safari can be further divided into an early-morning tiger safari and a late-night tiger safari. Depending on when the sun rises, morning tiger safaris begin about 6:00 am and last for 4.5 to 5 hours. The visitor returns to the lodge or resort following the morning tiger safari. You can get ready, eat a brief lunch, and then relax a little before returning to the jungle for your nighttime tiger safari. Depending on when the sun sets, the duration of the nighttime tiger safari is between three and five hours. You return to the lodge for dinner after your evening tiger safari and spend the rest of the evening at your leisure.
During a full day tiger safari in Pench, your jeep or vehicle enters the park 15–20 minutes before every other tiger safari vehicle. You spend the entire day in the national park, including lunch outside in the untamed forest. After the twilight tiger safari, 15 minutes have passed before you return to the park. The best times to go on this kind of tiger safari are in the lovely months of October and November or even at the tail end of February and March. Professional photographers who are tracking a certain species or documentarians who want to capture a specific family in the national park frequently go on a full-day tiger safari.
